  1. I think the War on Women that has been occurring in our society is unconscionable. It's not "just politics" anymore. It's not about being republican or democrat. It's a real effort by lawmakers to control, silence, and maintain power over women.

No matter what side of the political spectrum you fall on, or whether you even have an interest in politics, every woman should speak, and act, against the War on Women. That lawmakers around our nation even have the nerve to question and to openly attempt to suppress the rights of women to equal pay, privacy, and the most fundamental autonomy over our own bodies is outrageous, and all women should be outraged.

  2. We won't be marginalized. I'm keeping my cool but I will vote, and it won't be for someone who thinks of women as a sub human group akin to livestock. Nothing against our livestock beings but they don't have the vote. yet.

  3. What upsets me is Romney's secret weapon; his wife. Where does she get off claiming that she stayed home and raised 5 kids? I'd bet good money she's never cleaned up vomit. She's probably changed a diaper or two but her nannies did the work that the average stay at home mom does. A millionaire's wife is NOT an example of a stay at home wife. A stay at home mom is the hardest job in the world. They don't have clue and they think we're stupid!

  4. I am 61. The pill was introduced in my generation. As a result women were free to continue their education, have careers and space their children. Having access to birth control is now legal. It makes sense that it should therefor be covered by a benefit plan. It is clear to me this is all about the large insurance companies wanting to make more money. The fact that these companies have politicians in their pocket is immoral at best. If Viagra is covered by insurance (the potential for pregnancy) it only makes sense that "the pill" be covered as well (the ability to avoid pregnancy). I think our real nemesis in this is the Insurance Industry. As the Jackie Chan movie says, "follow the white guy's money". Sally Franz, Sallyfranz.com

  5. The real right that women should be demanding is the right to the truth. Why don’t groups like the American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen tell women that the birth control pill has been classified a Group 1 carcinogen by the World Health Organization? I wrote and asked them and got no reply. I asked nurses at a mobile clinic which was giving mammograms, if they told anyone. The answer was simply “no, we don’t tell anyone.” It will be interesting to see if yesterday’s announcement that Depo-Provera doubles the risk of breast cancer, will be publicized.
“Safer” isn’t Safe! Statistically, the average failure rate for condoms is 15% (due to damage, deterioration, defects and improper usage), that is like getting into the car and having your brakes fail, approximately every 8th time you drive it. For teens it’s anywhere from 30-70%. (Planned Parenthood’s condoms were found to be the most likely to be defective according to Consumer Reports.) And the structure of a woman’s body makes us more susceptible to disease. This goes double for the immature bodies of teenagers. Diseases like PID or the very virulent and easy to contract HPV may have lifetime consequences, including painful warts, infertility, and/or cancer.
And what about Gardasil which is heavily promoted as a protection against the HPV virus which causes cervical cancer? India banned it because a few girls died. There is a class action suit in Australia now against Merck due to “side effects” which can include paralysis and death. There have been over 17,000 such “adverse” effects in the United States, but because of all the hype, parents are calling up school nurses and demanding the vaccine. This despite the fact that Dr. Diane Harper, who was involved with developing this product in the U.S. has clearly stated that this is not a cancer cure. It is only effective against 3 of the nearly 100 strains of HPV, all of which are potentially carcinogenic. Not only that, they have no idea how long the vaccine is effective, so it could potentially wear off in just a few years. Talk about a war on women, Gardasil makes us feel “safe”, but the victims of it are simply “collateral damage”.

  6. Women Have No Control Over Their Lives Without Reproductive Rights!

There have been studies done, in many societies, that unless a woman has control over her reproductive system, she will never have control over her life. She will be at the mercy of any man who impregnates her. She will not be free to leave him if he abuses her because she will be financially dependent on him, as she will have no time or energy to find or keep a job, because she will be chasing around so many children.

It is not realistic to think a woman will "keep her legs crossed" in an attempt to keep control of her life. And why should she have to? Sex is a natural bodily need, much like food, clothing and shelter. Mother nature designed us to be sexual creatures to insure the continuation of our species. To call women who like sex sluts is just plain wrong. Men and women are both sexual beings, and none of us would be here without that sexual urges that our parents had. There is no need for hateful labels.

Birth control should not be denied to anyone. It will bring us back to the stone ages, when women were still denied the right to vote. Not having control of our reproductive systems turns us back into a man's property - which was not so very long ago. We might as well be the cow on the family farm. That's not a life I want to live. And I wouldn't have acheived the success I did if I was forced to have babies I didn't want because of what someone else believes. If you don't want to use birth control because of your own religious beliefs, that is fine - don't use it. But please don't force those beliefs on me. Our country was founded on the principle of living with our own personal religious beliefs. And my religious beliefs tell me there is nothing wrong and everything right with birth control. And I also don't want to be paying for any unwanted or unplanned babies on the taxpayers dole, because the mothers were denied birth control.

  7. The War on Women is real, organized, and has been planned from day one. It was going on since 2010, if not sooner, and we have finally woken up and are ready to engage! If we don't, the extremists will win. We have to fight this not only for us, but for our children, our grandchildren and all the women that will come after us. This is not about religious freedom, abortion or whatever else the crazies say it is...this is about control and keeping women in their 'place'. Equal rights for all!

  8. The War on Women is a ridiculous farce designed to scare women into re-electing President Obama because they've been convinced that the GOP wants to take away their birth control. One simple truth: a lack of taxpayer funding does NOT equal a lack of access. If that argument holds water, I'll be expecting my 2nd Amendment rights to be upheld by each of you being forced to pitch in so I can purchase a firearm.

Note: I'm a young, unmarried woman, I pay for my own birth control, which my bare-bones insurance does not cover. Mine's $20 a month, but you can get generics for $9 at Target and Walmart. I make well under the "poverty income" and if I can afford it without insurance coverage, 99.9% of people can. If you can't afford $9 a month (3 cups of Sbux, or about 30 cents a day), and you don't want children, you have the age-old option to remain celibate. No one OWES you a sex life on their dime.

Grow up, pay your own way, and stop comparing not getting free goodies to the suffrage movement. Susan B. Anthony would be very ashamed of the lot of you.

Oh, you didn't want that opinion? I see, people with vaginas are only women if they pull the lever for the Democratic Party. Such a fine way to repay the women who worked so hard for the vote so that women could decide their political ideals for themselves.

    1. It's interesting that you're immediately on the defensive. You say: "Oh, you didn't want that opinion?" I ask for all opinions. Not just from the left.

You also say: "The War on Women is a ridiculous farce designed to scare women into re-electing President Obama because they've been convinced that the GOP wants to take away their birth control."

This is not true. Check out this list of anti-women bills and measures put forth by the GOP since March 2011.
      http://www.guttmacher.org/statecenter/updates/2011/statetrends12011.html
      http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/04/16/916-anti-women-bills-introduced-by-the-gop-since-march-2011/

It's not just about our reproductive rights either, it's about the fight for equal pay for equal work. The GOP denies that this is happening to women. Google Lilly Ledbetter and you can read all about it.

Everyone has the right to their own opinion. But it's important that the opinion is fleshed out and researched.

    2. Au contraire, your opinion needs a dose of reality:

Pay gap is due to women's education and career CHOICES being, on average, different than men's: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304198004575172382976442708.html

Equal Pay legislation will hurt women trying to get into the work force by artificially raising the cost of hiring them. Sex discrimination in the workplace is already illegal, by the way. What equal pay will do is legislate that the salaried woman who works 40 hours a week must get the same promotions and pay as the guy who works 60 trying to climb the corporate ladder.

Most of the rest of your "anti-woman" bills revolve around abortion, which any intellectually honest person should be able to tell is a contentious issue revolving around the question of when human life begins. The fact that almost half the country believes in the personhood of fetuses does not automatically make them "anti-woman."

P.S. It's known as "aggressive" not "defensive" and we're agressive because the Leftist media and "women's groups" like NOW who claim to speak for all women leave out nearly half of American women, who don't expect anyone to pay their way, and have a variety of views on abortion. As long as you reduce "women's issues" to abortion and free contraception, expect some pushback from those of us who are tired of being told we're oppressed little victims instead of empowered and lucky women who have the widest set of life choices in history.

    3. Despite your condescending tone and your blatant refusal to see the truth, I am keeping your comment.
It's sad that some women don't want to accept what is really happening. Thank you for your input.

  10. This grand ol' country is run by rich men that don't understand anything unless it directly effects them. It isn't about abortion or birth control - it's about pushing our rights down the toilet.

That is why women are emotionally and mentally 'raped' by the government. We don't have enough women standing up and staying "NO" and right now we need every single woman to choose to use their voice and get the message across that we refuse to be passive.

If a man can't force me to have sex because it is illegal, how can the government have access to my vagina?

  11. I think that calling it a war on women is over dramatic. I DO believe that women have much to worry about that is legit, but calling it a war on women is too over the top. As with most of the issues, so many people from both sides just go too far on what is/may be going on. In my opinion (and I am a woman) is that we do have alot to worry about, but calling it a WAR.....? Too much
